北海道出身。文化服装学院デザイン科卒業。第33回装苑賞受賞後、1975年に株式会社人を設立。以来、オーナー兼デザイナーとして一貫した理念『繊細でクチュール感があり、時代にとらわれない服』に基づきクリエーションを続けている。2001年～2006年にロサンジェルスに直営店を運営、アメリカ全土に卸業を展開。東京コレクションには2005年から参加。

Born in Hokkaido, Kato graduated from Design course in Bunka Fashion College. He established Zin Co.,Ltd. in 1975, after winning the 33rd Soen Award. Ever since he started his career of the designer and the owner of the company, his creation is based on the principle that clothes should have “ a style that is free from the times, with a sense of haute couture and a touch of delicacy ”. He has opened a directly-managed store in LA, from 2001 to 2006, launching wholesaling business all over America. Kato has joined Tokyo collection since 2005.
