1979年 バンタンデザイン研究所卒業。1989年 株式会社三宅デザイン事務所入社。1994年 「I.S.」ブランドのチーフデザイナーとなる。同時にブランド名を「I.S. Sunao Kuwahara」としてスタート。1996年 株式会社エイ・ネットへ移籍。2003年 春夏よりブランド名を「sunaokuwahara」に変更し、深化することによって生まれる新しい価値観、より純度の高いオリジナリティを表現するブランドとしてスタート。移り変わる時代を素材・色・かたちで表現している。

Graduating from Vantan Design Institute in 1979, Kuwahara entered MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO in 1989, becomes the chief designer of the brand “I.S.” in 1994. He changed the name of the brand to “I.S. Sunao Kuwahara” and moved to A-net Inc. in 1996. He restarted his brand changing the name again to “sunaokuwahara” since 2003 S/S, identifying it as a brand that expresses a new value as it attains depth, and a highly purified originality. Kuwahara’s creation expresses the transition of time by using fabrics, colors and shapes.
